Sources have confirmed that Bol Network has secured the employment of the dynamic Umair Masoom as the “Head of Sales” for Bol Network. This is not the first time in his career that Umair Masoom will be reporting in to Ameen Akhter who is now the Chief Commercial Officer of BOL Network. Umair has worked for Ameen at PTV Network as well and it is a known fact that Umair happens to be the latter’s go-to man in an association which stems back to ARY Digital Network from Year 2005. Umair with the “whatever-it-takes” mindset started his career with Geo Television’s marketing department as a trainee back in 2004 and he has never looked back since then. Umair’s latest engagement was at ATV Network where he was working as Director Sales & Marketing for APLUS Entertainment since March 2016. His time spent at ATV Network will be most remembered for formulating a superstar sales team for the channel and for competing with the top tier channels, especially in event based selling.
Not only was he able to achieve impressive sales figures, Umair played an instrumental role in strengthening the brand and its digital platforms. Aplus revealed its new logo and packaging during his tenure and is set to aggressively progress in the coming days. Umairis an established Marketing professional with over 13 years of experience in Services Marketing including Media & Banking. He is a Marketer who has a holistic understanding of the media business, the ability to create winning partnerships, the reputation of developing unique value for customers and has a strong network across key advertisers. Prior to joining APLUS, he was working at PTV as “National Sales Manager” having complete responsibility of PTV Sports Business & the Mega Cricket Events besides handling other beams of PTV Network.
Through his diverse career, he has experience of handling multiple broadcast media categories including Sports, Entertainment & News as well as one International Movie brand i.e. HBO. Umair also has over 5 Years of Experience in Marketing of Financial Services including his roles as “Senior Vice President – Marketing” for Burj Bank Limited (now Albaraka Bank) and as “Marketing Services Manager” for Faysal Bank Limited thus having extensive Brand building & corporate communication experience.
He did his MBA (Marketing) and BBA (Honors) from Institute of Business Management, Karachi. Umair is additionally qualified as a “Chartered Marketer” from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM UK) and as a “Certified Islamic Banker” from NIBAF (National Institute of Banking & Finance). He had completed a certification in International Media & Journalism from LSE (London School of Economics & Political Sciences) in Year 2009. Umair is also the brainchild and Co-Founder of Pakistan Cricket’s Official Fan Club namely Cricket Junoonis which is a platform allowing Pakistan Cricket enthusiasts to follow their team around the World with special tour packages and privileges under the direct endorsement of PCB.
Over the years, he has been teaching marketing electives at various Universities in Karachi and has also been a regular contributor for some marketing publications. Beyond his qualifications, it is the combination of his humble personality and professional skillset that has become the reason for his recognition and success. Umair’s empathetic nature helps him to communicate well with brand custodians and understand the brands requirement. This innate ability has given him lasting relations in the media industry.
