ISLAMABAD – BOL News is to go for a formal launch in 24 hours, two days ahead of the December 25 date announced earlier.
Shoaib Ahmed Shaikh, the channel’s CEO made the announcement Thursday while addressing staff in Karachi. His address was live streamed to employees in Lahore and Islamabad. However, a new controversy surfaced on Thursday.

The executive of a Pakistani company Axact was charged in a US feb deral court on Wednesday for his part in an alleged $140 million “fake-diploma mill” scheme, the latest step in a global crackdown touched off by arrests in Pakistan last year. Axact is the parent company of BOL
Umair Hamid, 30, was charged in a criminal complaint filed in federal court in Manhattan with wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud and aggravated identity theft in connection with a scam that impacted tens of thousands of consumers.
Bitter rivals Geo and BOL traded accusations Thursday after news surfaced of an Axact executive being charged by a US court in a fake degree scam.
Geo had a field day, running at least four special packages all targeting BOL and asking questions why the case against Axact was put in cold storage in Pakistan and no one got punished.
Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman, Owner GEO TV
BOL in turn did a special program pointing out why Geo and Jang Group boss Mir Shakilur Rehman was not being arrested despite an anti-terrorism court in Gilgit-Baltistan awarding 26-year imprisonment to him in 2014 for running a blasphemous program.
The channel also ran a package that showed him as a villain, and warned Is dafa aisay nahin chalay ga, meaning this time (your plan) will not work.
Geo has in recent days, boosted up its campaign claiming it is still the Number 1 TV channel in the country.
Both groups claim to be the number 1 news channel in Pakistan. However the ratings still go in favor of Geo when it comes to the ratings and statistics. Geo News is still the most watched Pakistani TV channel in Pakistan as well as around the world.
