When Wasim Akram started his International Cricket career; he wouldn’t have thought that one day he’ll be a role model for generations of fast bowlers to come. Wasim was the first bowler to get more than 400 wickets in Test cricket.
Fashion brand J. by Junaid Jamshed has recently launched signature fragrance Wasim Akram 414 to pay homage to the legend of cricket world. The number ‘414’ is significant as it is the Test wickets tally of the Sultan of swing.
“Wasim Akram is the the highest wicket taker in test cricket for Pakistan, having taken 414 wickets in 104 matches; We thought it would make for the perfect name for the perfume,” shares Mohammed Ali Mufti, the head of sales and marketing at J. Fragrances. “He is a legend in all aspects — He’s a great sportsman but has also maintained the image of a responsible family man and that’s why we decided to pay tribute to him in this way.”

Junaid Jamshed with Ayesha Omar at the event
Vital Signs singer turned evangelist turned fashion designer Junaid Jamshed had once stated: “If you want to live a happy life, don’t teach your wife how to drive a car or a motorcycle.” Appearing on a TV show on another occasion and stated that “God dislikes that any woman should be named [in the Quran].”
The 50-year old is notorious for such sexist remarks. Many liberals often criticize the ex-Vital Signs vocalist of being a hypocrite. They believe a man who earns millions from a clothing brand for women still has the audacity to think women are inferior to men in every way. They are of the view that if Junaid Jamshed has such views against women, he shouldn’t be selling fashionable designer clothes that are ‘unislamic’ anyway.
