Indian Bollywood stars are big fan of Pakistan Drama & and our Channels are fans of Indian Drama? Irony is unmistakable.
Indian stylish Bollywood actress Vidya Balan recently said that she is big fan of Pakistan drama, in other words she is in love with pakistani Dramas, from actor’s performances to stories, from production quality to Direction, all are simply great. She was talking to the media and was praising Pakistani drama. This is not for the 1st time that Bollywood top stars be praised for Pakistani drama, even in PUNE Film school they have Pakistani classics i.e. Tanhayiyaan, Dhoop Kinaray, Waris & Khuda Ki basti in their drama library for student to learn from these Dramas.
Vidya Balan is one of the best performer in Indian Cinema but her career has ups & downs, initial success was followed by roles in the romantic comedies Hey Baby (2007) and Kismet Connection (2008) which met with negative reviews. The year 2009 marked the beginning of the most successful period in Vidya’s career as she portrayed five consecutive roles to wide critical acclaim in the 2009 drama Paa with Amitabh, the 2010 Black comedy Ishqiay, the 2011 semi-biographical thriller No one Killed Jessica, the 2011 biopic The Dirty Picture, and the thriller Kahaani. These roles established her as a leading actress of Hindi cinema.
In recent times Naseer ud Din Shah, Erfaan Khan has also given positive comments towards Pakistan drama but our entertainment channels are not that convinced from Pakistan drama, yet many entertainment channels getting ratings from Indian content and their prime time slots are filled with Indian content.
We feel that there is nothing wrong in airing foreign content as we have opened new channels just for foreign content like SEE TV is mainly running Turkish content. Filmazia, Express Entertainment, Aaj Ent, Urdu 1, and Play entertainment is pulling viewership through Indian content. But on the other side HUM TV and ARY Digital is running only Pakistani content and are on top of the list in Ratings.
In short yet we have to set direction for our Drama industry to prosper in the long run, short-term solutions wont work in the long run.
